How the Bone Shop Works

The Bone Shop is your meta-progression hub between runs. Spend bones earned from runs on permanent upgrades that apply to every character and every arena. Upgrades are organized into five categories:

CategoryExamplesPriority
SurvivalMax Health, Health Regen, Blood MagnetHigh
OffenseStarting Damage, Fire Rate, Projectile CountHigh
EconomyBone Bonus, Gold Bonus, Better ChestsMedium
MovementMove Speed, Jump Height, Dash ChargesMedium
UnlockNew Characters, New Arenas, SkinsGoal-based

Each upgrade has multiple levels (typically 3-5). Costs increase with each level. You can reset your bone spending at any time for a small fee, so don't worry about making permanent mistakes.

Upgrade Priority Order

Follow this order to maximize your power gain per bone spent. This is optimized for new players working toward their first Wave 20 clear.

Tier 1 — Buy these first (0-100 bones)

  1. Max Health Lv.1-3 — More health = more room for error. The single biggest survivability boost.
  2. Starting Damage Lv.1-2 — Faster wave clears mean less time taking damage.
  3. Blood Magnet Lv.1 — Automatically pulls blood drops toward you, making healing effortless.

Tier 2 — Core power (100-300 bones)

  1. Fire Rate Lv.1-2 — More bullets = more coverage and faster kills.
  2. Bone Bonus Lv.1-2 — Earn more bones per run, accelerating all future progression.
  3. Max Health Lv.4-5 — Finish capping your health pool.
  4. Starting Damage Lv.3 — Push damage to comfortable levels.

Tier 3 — Quality of life (300-600 bones)

  1. Gold Bonus Lv.1-2 — More gold means more in-run upgrades per run.
  2. Move Speed Lv.1 — Slight speed boost makes kiting easier.
  3. Better Chests Lv.1 — Improves the quality of items found in chests.
  4. Projectile Count Lv.1 — Extra projectile adds significant damage.

Tier 4 — Endgame & unlocks (600+ bones)

  1. Unlock remaining characters (see characters guide)
  2. Unlock additional arenas
  3. Max out remaining offensive upgrades
  4. Purchase cosmetic skins

The 20% rule

Always keep ~20% of your bones in reserve. If a new arena or character releases, you'll want funds available immediately. Don't zero out your bone balance on marginal upgrades.

Farming Bones Efficiently

Bones are earned based on wave reached and enemies killed. Higher waves give exponentially more bones. Here's how to maximize your bone income:

Bone farming strategies

  • Push as far as possible — Wave 15 gives roughly 3x the bones of Wave 10. Dying at Wave 14 is better than bailing at Wave 10.
  • Use Bone Bonus upgrades — Each level adds a percentage to all bone earnings. This compounds over many runs.
  • Play arenas you're comfortable in — A long run in an easy arena beats a short run in a hard one for bone income.
  • Complete daily quests — Daily quests offer bonus bones for specific objectives like "Kill 200 enemies" or "Reach Wave 8".
  • Boss kills give bonus bones — Every 5th wave is a boss; defeating them grants a bone bonus on top of wave rewards.
Wave ReachedEst. Bones (Base)With Bone Bonus Lv.3
Wave 5~15~22
Wave 10~40~58
Wave 15~80~116
Wave 20~140~203

Pro Tips & Common Mistakes

Pro Tips

  • Invest in Bone Bonus early — it pays for itself
  • Reset and respec if you unlock a new playstyle
  • Balance survival and offense — don't neglect either
  • Save bones for arena unlocks as they become available
  • Daily quests reset — do them every day for bonus bones

Avoid These Mistakes

  • Buying skins before functional upgrades
  • Ignoring Blood Magnet (massive QoL upgrade)
  • Spending all bones at once (keep reserve)
  • Maxing Move Speed before damage (speed doesn't kill enemies)
  • Forgetting to claim quest rewards

// TOWN CRIER — FAQ

Can I reset my Bone Shop upgrades?
Yes. There's a reset option in the Bone Shop that refunds all spent bones for a small fee (usually 10% of total spent). Use this if you want to try a different build focus.
Do Bone Shop upgrades apply to all characters?
Yes. All Survival, Offense, Economy and Movement upgrades are account-wide and apply to every character. Character-specific bonuses come from mastery, not the Bone Shop.
What's the most cost-effective upgrade?
Max Health gives the most survivability per bone, especially at early levels. Bone Bonus is the best long-term investment since it increases all future bone income.
